Floating Shelf
Constructed from 100% recycled materials this project was built to test my abilities at welding thin steel constructions. During my time at Seneca College, I was eager to challenge myself with the new welding skills that I acquired during my part-time studies. Using salvaged 1x0.65 steel tubing as the frame and cracked granite squares for inserts, this shelf was designed to be functional and beautiful without being obtrusive. This was done by keeping the profile of the shelf slim and keeping the colours black as to put more emphasis on the natural imperfections of the craked edges on the granite.
Lumen Villa
Made using 100% recycled materials from cardboard boxes disused wood and scrap cardstock. This concept was designed to breathe new life into classic Italian villa construction. This design was made to follow to suns orientation depending on the time of day. With a white tiled portion of the villa oriented towards the sunrise, the bedrooms would be situated on the top floor of this wing and a kitchenette and other morning comforts would be placed. After the morning light fades from the east wing the southern wing represented with wood flooring would be used for an office and afternoon activities. With a shallow sloped roof allowing late afternoon light to reach slightly into the south windows. This portion is also designed to have the best view of the courtyard directly looking at where a small garden would be situated represented by a spruce tree. As the sunset falls upon the villa the final west wing represented by the black granite would house the main kitchen and dining area with a floor to ceiling glass window and door so that residence can see the full beauty of the sunset. This portion also features a small upper den with a view of the sunsets as well a bridge that leads directly to the bedrooms in the east wing was the cycle waiting for the next sunrise.
Home Warn Ottoman
This ottoman was constructed out of 100% disused materials. This peace is a testament to how everything can be repurposed. All of the wood used was rotting and decaying outside when the wood was dried its was built with repurposed nails and stained with water-resistant grey primer and was styled with old belts to complete a warming look that cant be recreated.
